PONY CLUB Raceday/Jockey Skills

The Jockey Skills Training Course is one of the most exciting aspects of this initiative. Ten Pony Club members are selected to participate in the course at the world renowned Racing Academy and Centre of Education (RACE) in Kildare town prior to the Race Day. The course is open to Irish Pony Club members aged 14 to 16 years who hold a minimum C test certificate and who are under 9 stone weight.
The overall winner of the Jockey Skills course will be announced at the Race Day. During the exhibition race at the Curragh, the members who completed the Jockey Skills course will ride the pony/horse they usually ride at Pony Club activities.

The Annual Irish Pony Club Family Fun Day and Race Day at Naas Racecourse will take place on Sunday 30th September.  Naas Racecourse have a super day planned, packed full of activities for all the family.

Activities will include bouncy castles, face painting, cartoon characters, pony rides and a reptile zoo.  Not forgetting of course the racing, which will begin at 1.50pm, featuring the the Juddmonte Beresford Stake and the Weld Park Stakes.  In total, there will be eight exciting races on the card for your enjoyment.

The highlights of the day for Irish Pony Club members will include the performace by Killinick Harriers Hunt Branch of their Musical Ride Display, "The March of the Toy Soldiers" at 2.35 pm and the Exhibition Display involving the 2018 members of the Jockey Skills Training Course at RACE at 5.50pm.

Presentations will be made to the members of Killinick Harriers Hunt Branch and the ten Jockey Skills Training Course participants at 3.45pm and 4.15pm respectively in the parade ring. Congratulations to the ten Irish Pony Club members who attended the two day jockey skills training course in RACE.  Well done to:
