Minimus heading

Minimus is a 2-day competition consisting of three disciplines, swimming, running and riding. Points are awarded to competitors for their performance in each discipline. The overall winner is the competitor with the most points after all three disciplines. Participants must be U-12 on the 1st of January of the current year. However, new older Pony Club members may participate Hors Concours to gain valuable competition experience. Irish Pony Club D+ test standard is recommended for this competition.
The Minimus Championships are a team competition where members from branches form a team of three/four for the competition. Individual trophies are awarded to boys and girls for the best overall winners and the best in the disciplines of running and swimming.

Last weekend, ten Irish Minimus athletes travelled to Catterick in the UK, to represent Ireland at the North of England Tetrathlon - Minimus International Tetrathlon competition.

Out of ten international teams, the two Irish teams who travelled, placed 1st and 2nd. Following the swim, shoot and run phases, the team including Sahara, Tom, Phoebe, Skyla and Tristan were in first place. However, our second team Lucy, Ella, Niall, Andrew and Jaime had a slightly better cross country riding phase, overtaking the other Irish team to place first.  Andrew Henson, South Westmeath Hunt Branch won the Boys Individual competition. Andrew also won the Individual Boys competition at the Irish Pony Club National Minimus Championships in Millstreet. It was a great weekend and the squad had a wonderful experience.  Congratulations to everyone involved.  All of the hard work, practice and training definitely paid off.  Well done!  Thank you to Johnson & Perrott Land Rover for supporting our Minimus squad and helping to make this trip possible.
