Irish Pony Club Health and Safety Committee Update 20th August 2020
Equine sporting competitions can continue behind closed doors. People are asked to use face coverings, while training and gathering outdoors should be conducted in pods of 15, with this being reviewed before September 13th.
I urge everyone within Irish Pony Club to take every care in the fight to stop the spread of the Covid-19 corona virus. Please do not become complacent. Continue to practice coughing and sneezing etiquette, keep social distancing and use a face covering when necessary.
With equine sporting competitions allowed behind closed doors, confirmed yesterday by our National Governing Body following a meeting with Sport Ireland. Only necessary people to travel with the competitor. Anyone attending a competition must arrive on your time and leave as promptly as possible when finished. I ask competition organisers to follow the protocols as issued and take every precaution in helping to suppress the spread of this virus.
HPSC confirms 54 new cases and 2 deaths yesterday. 67% are from contact with a confirmed case, 30% from community transmission, with 74% under the age of 45 years. Leitrim, Sligo and Longford have had no new cases in the last 6 days. Kildare, Laois and Offaly continue in lock-down until midnight Sunday August 23rd.
Please I urge you all to be vigilant, exercise caution and do everything you can in preventing the spread of this virus, so we can continue with some form of normality in our daily lives.
Stay well Keep safe
