Garda Vetting Applications
Garda Vetting for adults working with or responsible for children or vulnerable adults for the IPC has been transferred to the IPC's 'umbrella organisation' Horse Sport Ireland. This means that the IPC will enjoy the same benefits and protections conferred by HSI as the other Equestrian Sporting Bodies in Ireland.
Garda Vetting checks are carried out by Horse Sport Ireland on behalf of all Equestrian Sporting Bodies in Ireland through the National Vetting Bureau (NVB). The NVB provides the only official vetting service in the Republic of Ireland.
Garda Vetting applications are now processed online through the eVetting System. However, there is still a paper form requiring ID validation and consent – applicants should check the processes carefully by viewing the HSI eVetting 6 Step process at http://www.horsesportireland.ie/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/GV-eVetting-Procedure-Graphic.docx-1.pdf
There is an administrative cost of €10 per Garda Vetting Application. Payment must be made via the link on the HSI website at https://www.horsesportireland.ie/governance/garda-vetting/
Upon receipt of payment, an automatic email will then be sent to applicants where the HSI eVetting Invitation and ID Verification Form will be available for download and completion:
Please note that if you have already been Garda Vetted through Horse Sport Ireland for one of the other Equestrian Sporting Bodies in Ireland (for example SJI, Eventing Ireland, IPS, RDA, RDS etc) you will still need to re-apply for GV for the Irish Pony Club. This is because your declared role with the IPC may be different from your role with other Affiliates. HSI did not have a relationship with IPC for Vetting prior to this so need to be in a position to stand over vetting approval. Applicants who already have a relationship with HSI will have their member profile updated on the HSI system with a new renewal date.
