Irish Pony Club Instructors Register 2017

The Irish Pony Club Instructors Register for 2017 is now open. 

In order to be listed in the Irish Pony Club Who’s Who/Year Book 2017, you must register online on or before Sunday  8th January 2017 11am and pay the registration fee of €20.

Please make sure the following documentation is in order:

  • IPC Garda Vetting (every five years)
  • Up to date First Aid Certificate
  • Child Protection
  • 5CPD Points have been obtained in 2016

Training Evening with Charlie Unwin on Monday 22nd August

Top sports performance psychologist, Charlie Unwin, will be in the south of Ireland for the first time giving a seminar at Ballylanigan House, Mullinahone, Co Tipperary on Monday 22 August from 7-9pm.

Instructors will be awarded 1 CPD Point

Charlie has worked with numerous Olympic athletes across many sports including the Senior & Junior British eventing teams. He comes highly recommended by top eventing athletes & coaches such as Lucinda Green MBE, Sharon Hunt and Yogi Breisner.

Charlie himself has competed at top level sport being a member of the British Modern Pentathlon team and served a number of years as an officer in the British army.

This evening is well worth attending to improve and enhance your sporting performances. Tickets are priced at €25 per person. Places are limited so early booking is recommended. There are also one-to-one sessions available on Tuesday 23 August. Each session is one hour long and the cost is €95 per session. Sessions are avaliable from 9.30am onwards.

Young Breeders Training Day Monday 8th August

Young Breeder Training day taking place at the Farm of Marion Hughes (HHS Stud)  on Monday the 8th of August at 1.30pm. This is a superb opportunity for young people from across the country to join with the Teagasc Equine Specialists and Andrew Hughes of Ennisnag Horses (ESI prefix) for an afternoon spent evaluating conformation and athleticism traits of performance sport horses.

Young Breeders Training Day in McKee Barracks 22nd June *Change of Date & Time

A Young Breeder Training day is taking place at the Army Equitation School, McKee Barracks, Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin on Wednesday the 22nd of June at 10am – 2pm.

This is a superb opportunity for young people across the country to join with the Teagasc Equine Specialists and Comdt. Tom Freyne and staff at the Army Equitation School for an afternoon spent evaluating conformation and athleticism traits of performance sport horses in both show jumping and eventing.  All young people aged 13-24 years on 1st of Jan 2016 are welcome to attend. Residential Senior Camp

After the great success of the Senior Camp last year we are holding another Residential Senior Camp on the 26th, 27th & 28th August in Gurteen Agricultural College. Members must have reached their 17th birthday and all levels of riders are welcome.

 

The price of senior camp is €200 this includes accommodation, stabling (with straw bedding), meals and instruction.

 

Horses can be hired from Gurteen for those who do not wish to bring their own ponies/horses with no extra charge but are limited in number and will be given on a first come first served bases.

Young Breeders Training Day

the next training day for the Young Breeders is on Saturday April 30th from 1.30-4.30pm on the farm of Barry O Connor, Malahide, Co. Dublin (agent responsible for the €1.4million purchase of Dougie Douglas at Goresbridge last year).

Fabulous opportunity to hear what Barry values in terms of conformation and athleticism traits and how he assesses horses for the market.

RACE Foundation Course for Grooms & Exercise Riders

RACE (Racing Academy & Centre of Education) in conjunction with HRI (Horse Racing Ireland) and IRTA (Irish Racehorse Trainers Association) are running a Foundation Course for Grooms and Exercise Riders commencing on Monday 25th April 2016.  This practical programme will focus on stable management and riding skills as well as an industry induction.  All participants will be placed in full time employment with a licenced trainer upon completion.  The course will take six to eight weeks to complete.
